Your Caesarean can feel calm, personal and positive
Whether your Caesarean is planned, recommended or has suddenly become a possibility, you deserve more than a date and a brief explanation of the procedure.
I’ll help you understand your options, prepare emotionally and practically, create meaningful birth preferences and feel more confident about meeting your baby.
Caesarean Birth Support and C Section Prep

A Caesarean birth is still your birth
A Caesarean can sometimes feel like something that is simply going to be done to you. But even when surgery is medically recommended, there may still be many decisions you can make about how you are cared for and how your baby enters the world.
From the atmosphere in theatre and the way your baby is born, to cord clamping, skin-to-skin, feeding and recovery, your preferences matter.
Whether you feel excited, anxious, disappointed, relieved — or a complicated mixture of everything — you deserve support that meets you where you are.
It isn’t “just” an operation. It is the birth of your baby.
Find the right Caesarean support for you
You may want a complete preparation package, personal help creating your birth preferences, support on the day, or simply an affordable resource you can use at home. Choose the level of support that feels right for you.

You may have more choices than you realise
A Caesarean takes place in an operating theatre, but that doesn’t mean every part of the experience has to feel clinical or impersonal. Depending on your individual circumstances and your hospital, you may be able to request:
A playlist or calming music
Quiet voices and minimal non-essential conversation
The screen lowered so you can see your baby being born
Discovering your baby’s sex for yourself
Delayed or optimal cord clamping
Immediate skin-to-skin in theatre
Your baby remaining close during checks
Your partner cutting the cord
Photographs of the birth
NHS trusts already describe options including softer lighting, music, lowered screens, delayed cord clamping, skin-to-skin and partner cord cutting.

And sometimes, with advance discussion…
Some maternity teams may also consider less familiar preferences, including maternal-assisted Caesarean birth, using a personal aromatherapy inhaler, involving you in welcoming or touching your baby as they are born, or showing and explaining the placenta.
These requests usually need to be discussed with your consultant, midwife, anaesthetist and theatre team well before the birth. What is possible will depend on your health, your baby’s wellbeing, infection-control requirements and the circumstances on the day.
You won’t know what is possible unless you know what to ask.
If you would like to discuss all the possible options book a Birth Blueprint Power Hour and I can help you prepare your Gentle Caesarean Birth Plan

My mission
My mission is to help make calm, personalised Caesarean birth the norm — not something available only to those who know what to ask for.
Everyone preparing for a planned Caesarean should be told about the choices that may be available to them — from dimmed lighting, music and clear drapes to delayed cord clamping, immediate skin-to-skin and meaningful involvement in the birth of their baby.
These options shouldn’t feel like special favours. Wherever they are clinically safe and possible, they should be routinely explained, openly discussed and genuinely considered.

Cathie was my birth doula when I had my second child and has really helped me to have a positive experience. She supported me during pregnancy, by offering lots of useful advice - especially when I was struggling with pelvic girdle pain. When I had my baby, she stayed with me in hospital and took great care of us and continued to do so postnatally. I highly recommend her because she is empathetic and knowledgeable.

Questions about Caesarean support
Is this package only for planned Caesareans?
The in-person package is designed specifically for planned Caesarean births. If a Caesarean has recently been recommended, or has become a possibility, you can still contact me to discuss whether this package, a Power Hour or virtual support would suit you best.
Will you be able to accompany me into theatre?
Most hospitals allow one birth companion in theatre. This means you may need to choose whether that person will be your partner or me. Policies vary between hospitals, so we will discuss your options and, where possible, ask your maternity team in advance.
Which hospitals and areas do you cover?
I offer planned Caesarean doula support at Liverpool Women’s Hospital, Whiston Hospital, Ormskirk Hospital, Warrington Hospital and Arrowe Park Hospital, subject to availability and travel distance. I may also be able to support families elsewhere across Merseyside, Cheshire and the surrounding North West, so please enquire if your hospital isn’t listed.
Can I book the Recovery & Rest Visit separately?
Yes. The two-hour Caesarean Recovery & Rest Visit can be booked separately for £125, subject to location and availability. It includes nourishing food, gentle practical help and time for you to rest or talk through your birth.
Can you support me if I live elsewhere in the UK?
Yes. My Calm Caesarean virtual support, Caesarean birth-planning Power Hour, classes and digital resources are available wherever you live in the UK.
When should I book?
Booking earlier gives us more time to prepare and discuss your preferences, but you are welcome to enquire whenever a Caesarean is being considered or planned. I may also be able to accommodate shorter-notice bookings.

You don’t have to prepare alone
Let’s make your Caesarean feel calmer and more personal
